Background to HPE Growth
Established in 2010, HPE Growth is a leading pan-European private equity firm focused on expansion/growth capital investments in technology companies throughout Northern Western Europe with assets under management in excess of EUR 500 million. HPE invests in high-growth software and internet-enabled businesses that have shaken off the risks associated with early, venture-type investments and have an option to leverage their proven technology and the status of a (local) champion. By bringing in additional equity and active support, HPE acts as a catalyst to expansion and enables portfolio companies to execute on their vision of securing market leadership. Typically, HPE aims to deploy about EUR 10 to 45 million in equity per transaction for a meaningful minority or majority position. Portfolio investments include companies such as PPRO, Tiqets, eGym and Uberall. HPE’s team has diverse backgrounds with international experience in Investing (General Atlantic, TPG), Finance (Morgan Stanley, ING) and Operations (Walt Disney, Shell) and a global network supported through its regional offices in Amsterdam (HQ), Düsseldorf and San Francisco.
Role
The investment team internship role offers candidates the opportunity to actively participate in our deal sourcing and execution efforts, including the mapping of selected industries, conducting related industry analyses (based on third-party research, industry journals, trade fair visits, etc.), and approaching interesting investment targets. Furthermore, the intern will gain exposure to the investment process by supporting on valuation, commercial and financial due diligence, managing external advisors involved in confirmatory due diligence and the preparation of investment memoranda for our investment committee. On an occasional basis, the intern may also support in portfolio work of existing investments.

In principle, you will be based in our headquarter in Amsterdam with international travelling on an ad-hoc basis in case of management meetings or trade fairs.
Skills & Experience required
We look for individuals who can balance personal achievement and teamwork, have intensity and integrity, intellectual curiosity, leadership potential and a passion for excellence. In return, we can offer you a position with real responsibility and outstanding on-the-job training. The intern should have strong analytical skills. He or she should have some experience in analyzing market trends, company valuations and preparing business plans and investment memorandums. Entrepreneurial spirit is important as is an interest in technology-related markets. Candidates must be in the possession of at least a Bachelor's degree with excellent credentials from a leading university or business school. Financial skills and relevant (investment banking / strategy consulting / technology) experience through previous internships are highly preferred. In addition, HPE's main business language in the office is English (no Dutch language skills required). The internship should be for a period of at least 3 months, but can be up to 6 months if mutually agreed.
