Description

CNBB Equity Partners is a Rotterdam-based software investment firm founded in 2007 by serial entrepreneurs Arco van Nieuwland (co-founder of Exact) and Lucas Brentjens (former CEO of Exact). We are a specialized investment fund with a focus on growth and buy-out investments in B2B SaaS businesses in the Benelux, UK and DACH. Our investment strategy and sector-specific expertise have enabled us to contribute to software success stories and realize top-quartile returns.

Who we are

Our partners have 30+ years of experience in the SaaS industry as entrepreneurs and investors. They have been involved in founding, scaling and exiting leading software businesses. Arco co-founded Exact from his garage in 1984 and led the company, together with Lucas as board member and CEO, to growth and IPO. In 2007, they founded fast-growing robotic accounting platform Yuki and bolstered it to be an innovator in its industry. As serial SaaS entrepreneurs, we understand the game and have turned to active investing in SaaS businesses to continue to build great software companies. 

Supported by a team of investment professionals with backgrounds in investment banking and private equity, CNBB combines operational and strategic expertise with financial know-how. 

What we do

Our investment thesis is centered around creating regional leading software platforms in fragmented markets, through both M&A and organic growth. We look for proven business models reflected in robust organic growth, cash-generating capacity and best-in-class products. 

To find these platforms we carefully examine markets through our proprietary research methods. We continually scan interesting sectors and keep in touch with great entrepreneurs. After we invest, we sit alongside management to identify and execute on expansion or optimization opportunities. For example, CNBB develops market-entry strategies to help its portfolio companies expand to adjacent markets, but we also look at ways to optimize the business through operational excellence programs.
